Why mixed-language questions need practice

A question can start in Hindi and end with an English technical term. Test whether a transcript preserves the meaning of both parts, and practise answering in the language your interviewer expects.

What answering in Hinglish looks like

Interviewer asks:

"Aapne Redis kyun use kiya us project mein?"

"Honestly, latency ki wajah se. Session lookups har request pe ho rahe the, Postgres pe ~40 ms lag raha tha. Redis pe 1 ms ke andar, aur TTL se expiry free mein mil gayi."

Notice what that answer is not: it's not a translated paragraph, and it's not textbook Hindi. It's the code-mixed way engineers in India actually talk, technical words in English, connective tissue in Hindi, grounded in the Redis project from your CV, because generic essays are the fastest way to sound like you're reading.

When the interview is in English, so are the answers

The tool mirrors the interviewer. Formal English question → crisp English answer. Hindi/Hinglish question → Hinglish answer. You don't configure anything; it follows the conversation the way you would.

Candidates strongest in Hindi who freeze composing English answers under pressure. The draft gives you the sentence structure, you deliver it your way. Engineers interviewing at Indian services and product companies, where HR rounds especially run bilingual. Anyone re-entering interviews after years. A five-minute Hinglish practice checklist

  1. Choose one real project. Note your role, the problem and what changed.
  2. Explain it once in English and once in Hinglish. Keep names, dates and numbers consistent.
  3. Ask a friend to change language halfway through a follow-up.
  4. If using a transcript or AI draft, mark missing technical terms and invented personal claims.
  5. Repeat the answer without reading the draft. Keep only improvements you can explain yourself.
